Slumdog Millionaire is a 2008 British directed by Danny Boyle, written by Simon Beaufoy, and directed in India by Loveleen Tandan. Slumdog millionaire was nominated for ten academy awards in 2009 and won eight, the most for any film of 2008, including Best Picture, Best Director, and best adapted screenplay.
The film opens in Mumbai with a policeman torturing Jamal Malik, a former street child. Jamal is a contestant in the Indian version of "Who wants to be a millionaire?". He has alredy won Rs. 10.000.000 and has made it to the final question, Rs. 20.000.000. Now, the police suspect Jamal of cheating, because the other possibilities are imposible. This film shows the extreme poverty that exists in the world.
